Auditions

Here is how the casting process works:
  • Casting Invitations are emailed approximately three weeks prior to the audition date. The Casting Invitation includes important information about the audition, rehearsal schedule, and the performances. Read the casting invitation carefully before requesting an audition.

  • Follow the links in the Casting Invitation to request an audition before the deadline. We cannot accept late requests.

  • Casting appointments are emailed, usually within 24 hours, after the deadline. If a lottery* is required, it will take another day or two to send out appointments.

  • If you receive an appointment, you are in the show! The audition determines your role.

  • Casting location is TBD based on the show. You must attend the Casting Day to be in the show. Please be prompt.

  • Casting takes approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival, you will:
       o    Check-in and, submit Cast Code of Conduct and pay the production and coop fees. Click here for more information about fees.
       o    Have your measurements taken
       o    Have your picture taken
       o    Learn a short dance
       o    Audition with the Director, Music Director and Choreographer. This usually includes reciting a one-minute monologue prepared in
             advance, singing 16 bars of a song, and performing the dance. Specific audition requirements will be listed in the Casting Invitation.

  • You will receive a call with your role usually within 3 days.

* Lottery
If the number of audition requests exceeds the number of actors we can accommodate, the Board of Directors will hold a blind lottery to determine who will receive an audition. Though the lottery process is random, there are a few things that must be considered to ensure that all members have an equal opportunity to participate, and that the needs of the show are met. Any member who is “lotteried-out” of a show is guaranteed to be cast in the next show she/he applies for.
